Remember I said I wanted a Kindle? Yeh, not so much anymore. The model currently available to UK buyers is basically the US version with wireless coverage. So you’d think you’d be able to buy all the books that the US can right? Wrong. I was checking through the books in my wish list and not only were almost all of them not even available in Kindle edition but the three that were, weren’t available to buy from the UK.

So I think I’ll be waiting till Amazon releases the Kindle in the UK properly before I jump on the bandwagon.

It was my birthday yesterday, I turned 21. Exciting stuff, eh? Not really, I was supposed to be taken away for a weekend I would remember for the rest of my life, but in the end it turned out to be a pretty forgettable weekend all told.

I worked Saturday night and during the day Sunday and then last night I went out for dinner with my mum, sister and her boyfriend to a Mexican restaurant. The meal was pretty nice, I had a refried bean and melted cheese chimichanga which was tasty.

But it didn’t make up for what shouldve been. What would’ve been, if a certain Seattle immigration agent had done her job properly and not let her prejudices get in the way.

I only got one present on my birthday (since I had my part two weeks ago) and that was an Amazon gift card from Tim. I used it to preorder Halo 3:ODST and Fallout 3: Game of the year edition which are out in September and October so that’s something to look forward to and was nice to receive.

As many will be aware (due to the fact I was incredibly pissed about it!) my Xbox 360 broke last week and while I was able to revive it, it was obvious it was on it’s last legs. So I decided to preempt the day it died permanently and buy a new one.

Since I already have a hard drive I opted to go for the Arcade model (the cheapest) as it comes with a bigger memory card than the one I have.

I ordered through Amazon as I get free one day delivery anyway but also because they had the best deal. For £140 I got the console, Burnout Paradise, Trivial Pursuit, Connect 4 and an extra wireless controller. Pretty good considering the console itself is £130…oh and it also comes with 5 Arcade games: Uno, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket, PacMan CE and Feeding Frenzy.

All in all I think I got a pretty good deal and it went some way to lessening my anger towards Microsoft for pushing out a half finished console.
