This weekend I watched two really good movies: The Hangover and The Proposal. The Hangover is HILARIOUS, probably the funniest film I saw that was released last year. Plus Bradley Cooper is nice to look at. The Proposal was a cute movie tho I think it was enhanced by Paula and Kirstin’s presence and quips. The only thing I didn’t like about The Proposal was that it had some immigration stuff on it that brought back some memories and also made me slightly nervous about Tim moving here :-/

I’ve also got Public Enemies and Up to watch sometime soon which I can’t wait for. Anyone got any recommendations for good movies to watch?

What will 2010 be bringing for me? Well starting this month (today in fact) I’ll be moving up to Duty Manager at work! More responsibility and hopefully more regular hours, it should be good. I’m hoping to get down to London sometime between now and the end of March. I’ve got a couple holidays left to take since I worked Boxing Day, NY Day and the 2nd so I’m gonna save a bit and head down for a long weekend to see Amy and Ian. I think that’s everything for the year….

…obviously I am kidding Tim so put the gasket back in! In May I’m getting married! It can’t come soon enough tho I imagine by the time it comes I’ll be ready to have it over just to be destressed. For our honeymoon we’re going to Paris which I’m excited for even tho I’ve been a half dozen times before. I’m excited to take Tim and I’m excited he’s excited to go.

Wow what a week. Is it really already over? It seems like it was only yesterday Tim was arriving and yet at the same time it feels like it has been weeks since it was last Saturday. I can’t believe how much we did in 6 days.

Saturday: We had dinner with Linzi and Callum then their friends Andy and Porto came over and we played Catchphrase into the wee hours. I invited a new word while drunk: chatitive.

Sunday: We met Mandy, Emma and Oliver for coffee then added my Dad and Lorene for lunch which was super yummy. My Dad and Lorene gave us an extremely generous engagement present. We had dinner with my mum and then headed to bed.

Monday: We met Paula and Kirstin for lunch at my work then went to the Bruce Hotel so Tim could see it. Had dinner again with my mum and watched some shows.

Tuesday: Inverness. Was as good as it could’ve been.

Wednesday: We headed into town aiming to do kilts and cakes but ended up spending all afternoon in House of Fraser doing a wedding list. Such fun! Had dinner with Chris and Andrew then home.

Thursday: Met Amy for coffee, then a movie, then dinner and finally some drinks with the addition of Paula and Kirstin. Much fun (and alcohol) was had.

Friday: Finally did cakes and kilts, then to Dad and Lorenes for dinner with them, Mandy, Emma, Linzi, Callum, Ross and Gill.

Saturday: Got up very early and took Tim to airport.

Now that we’re into November it’s time to start getting ready for Christmas and boy did I make a start on it today!

Paula, Kirstin and I drove over to Costco in the afternoon and I brought my iPod along since I found the cable to make it work in Paula’s car. Boy was that a mistake! Kirstin found the Christmas playlist and decided we would listen to Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You on repeat. It made us feel Christmassy but also got rather annoying.

Costco was very Christmassy too and had lots of cool toys to gawk at. Then on the way home we stopped at Silverburn and I went to Starbucks and got not only a red cup but also one of the new (RED) Starbucks cards AND an eggnog latte!

Oh it was so good. I’m going up to East Kilbride on Sunday so I’ll try the Starbucks there for some too. I also managed to get a free bag of coffee because the woman forgot to rescan it after she took it off to put £20 on my Starbucks card, so I got it free. Yay!

Tonight we had dinner at Kirstins, she made pasta carbonara and it was really good. There was also cake, photos of which I’m sure will be making their way onto Nicoles Facebook sometime soon.

Twas a a good day.

The good thing about my sister returning from Seattle is all the stuff she brought back for me! There’s presents, t-shirts, hoodies. candy, drink mixes, books and even a video game! Tho technically that didn’t come via Seattle. First up is my Adipose which was a birthday present from Jason, then my woot shirts and lastly a hoody from Tim.

Well tomorrow I finally (finally!) head off for Seattle and I cannot friggin’ wait! I’m sitting on my break just now at work and I only have two hours left but it feels like eternity.

Once i’m done work I have quite a lot to get done today. I head home, package the Singstar game I have to return, go post that, get the train into town, go to Emma’s office to pick up my birthday card, head over to John Lewis to see if they still have the suitcase I liked, meet Chris for coffee, go to Borders for magazine, pick up various candies for Tim, go home for last dinner, check in online at 8pm, head out to Beanscene for a coffee with Paula and Kirstin then head home and pack before getting a taxi at 4am.

Then it’s only 14 hours till I touchdown in Seattle and summer begins!

Last night after I’d finished work I went into town with Paula and Sabah for dinner and then a couple drinks. It was good fun, though of course Sabah had too much to drink and dived into her boy “troubles”.

We had dinner at this little Italian restaurant I LOVE called Pulcinella in downtown Glasgow. I was going to go for pasta (trying to be healthy) but then I saw a pizza I just HAD to try.

Pizza Pulcinella: cheese, spicy italian sausage and potato. Potato on a pizza! How mental is that? It came along though and it was DELICIOUS. I’m going out for dinner with my Dad and stepmum next Monday for my birthday and I think we just might have to go there. It’s a really cosy little diner and the staff are always a delight.

After there we walked down to Wetherspoons and had a round of drinks, me a Kopparberg Summer Fruits and the girls a “Woo woo” pitcher between them. As we got towards the bottom of our glasses a group of annoyingly loud people moved in nearby so we decided to leave and get the train.

It was a good fun night and I’m glad I went out in the end even tho I didn’t want to to begin with.

I was supposed to be going to see Katy Perry tomorrow with Paula and Sabah, something I wasn’t particularly looking forward to. You see I never wanted to go in the first place, Sabah bought myself and Paula the tickets for Christmas eve after we repeatedly stated we didn’t like her nor want to go, but apparently those cries fell on deaf ears.

After I learned I would be going I downloaded her album and it’s not bad, but it’s not something i’d go see live.

So it was with great joy I learned it has been postponed to August 25th (for reasons unknown to me) when I will be out of the country!

Now Sabah wants Paula and myself to go to her house for “drinks and BBQ” and then stay over. I don’t mind the first two but I really don’t want to stay over as I have a lot to get done on Sunday in prep for my party and going to London.

I’m gonna speak to Paula and see if she’ll get a taxi home with me on Saturday night/Early Sunday morning.

This is a card I got from Kirstin today. Inside it reads:

Dear Jamie, apparently Hallmark don’t make these cards so I made one myself. Happy New Puppy Max and Happy 21st Birthday party I am RSV”Peeing” yes please! Lots of love from Kirstin.

I personally thought it was really cute (tho I don’t think my dog should be weeing lava) and rather touching that she went to so much effort just for a simple RSVP.

(If you haven’t seen Star Trek yet, do not read on. There be spoilers ahead!)

I went to see Star Trek with Chris and Andrew yesterday afternoon, my verdict? Read on to find out!

First off, you should know I am not a Star Trek fan. Hate it. It’s stuffy and boring and the actors are all old. And did I mention stuffy and boring?

So it was with great surprise that I found myself wanting to see the new movie, and later being very surprised that I thoroughly enjoyed the picture.

The newest film in the franchise is actually a “reboot” or more precisely, a new and exciting film filled with action because apparently the last few SUCKED BALLS.

It resets everything that has come before by introducing a time travel/alternate reality aspect that allows J.J. Abrams to basically do whatever the fuck he wants, and does he!

The story is an origins story of sorts with it showing how the Enterprise crew came together in the beginning. Kirk and Spock are enemies, Sulu is apparently a ninja (but not a very good one), Chekov is a poodle and Bones frowns all the freaking time.

Yet they all merge together to make a great cast for an excellent movie. I just read that the film took in over $70 million in it’s opening weekend so a sequel is all but certain. Hopefully it can be just as good.

Oh and for the LOLfactor:
