The Spike VGAs were last night and there was lots of lovely game announcements and first looks. Chief among them were Batman: Arkham Asylum 2, Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2, True Crime: Hong Kong and Spec Ops: The Line announced. Medal of Honor, Prince of Persia and Halo Reach all got first looks.

Halo: Reach looks good but unfortunately I don’t think it’s following the same story as the book Fall of Reach which is a shame. Medal of Honor just looks like Modern Warfare but that doesn’t mean I won’t play it. Prince of Persia unfortunately looks like a movie tie-in which is a shame since I really enjoyed the last one and was hoping for a sequel to it.

Surely Microsoft can afford to pay whoever makes these live action shorts to make a really long one that could otherwise be called a movie?

Judging by this live-action trailer, there’s a whole lot of death involved.

As like last year, there’s many a good game coming out this side of Christmas. But I’ve budgeted myself to one game a month, which is a lot harder than it sounds.

August: Wolfenstein or Batman: Arkham Asylum? I think I’ll go with the Batman.

September: Halo: ODST, Dirt 2, Dead Rising 2, Wet, Operation Flashpoint 2. Obviously Halo 3: ODST but that’s bought with gift certificate money so technically I’m allowed a second game which is Dead Rising 2. Though I’m not sure the release date for that is correct. I hope it is!

October: Fallout: GOTY, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Borderlands, Forza 3. Fallout: GOTY was again bought with gift money so I’ve also preordered SC: Conviction. Forza 3 looks like it might be a purchase somewhere down the line tho as it looks a bit epic for a rental.

November: Modern Warfare 2, Assassins Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2. Left 4 Dead 2 is essential for co-oping with Tim but I really want MW2 however I refuse to pay £45 for it so I’ll have to wait till it goes down in price.

It was my birthday yesterday, I turned 21. Exciting stuff, eh? Not really, I was supposed to be taken away for a weekend I would remember for the rest of my life, but in the end it turned out to be a pretty forgettable weekend all told.

I worked Saturday night and during the day Sunday and then last night I went out for dinner with my mum, sister and her boyfriend to a Mexican restaurant. The meal was pretty nice, I had a refried bean and melted cheese chimichanga which was tasty.

But it didn’t make up for what shouldve been. What would’ve been, if a certain Seattle immigration agent had done her job properly and not let her prejudices get in the way.

I only got one present on my birthday (since I had my part two weeks ago) and that was an Amazon gift card from Tim. I used it to preorder Halo 3:ODST and Fallout 3: Game of the year edition which are out in September and October so that’s something to look forward to and was nice to receive.
